Foresight shatters 3D printing myths
The media hype surrounding 3D printing, set off by the first 3DP devices intended for the consumer market, has somewhat faded. To some extent, it was useful as it contributed to better technology awareness and, as a consequence, improved funding and acceleration opportunities of additive manufacturing technologies. On the other hand, it created many naive, tabloid visions of the future that spread misleading ideas about the possibilities and limitations of these technologies ("Soon we will all eat printed food!").
Cubic Inch, a company specializing in 3D printing solutions, asked 4CF for a brief foresight analysis of 3D printing prospects in several key industries - aeronautics, automotive, automation and robotics, shipbuilding, and maintenance.
